Clinical director
Being Paragon Psychotherapy’s clinical director is an honor and a delight. For more than 14 years, I have learned and gained clinical experience working in public and private Southern California clinics. My approach to therapy focuses heavily on deep empathy and engagement. With weekly sessions, my clients typically see a significant improvement in their emotional state within 3 to 6 months.
Counseling Explained
From prognosis to treatment, every case is different. We help clients navigate all aspects–emotional, psychological, and life–of their therapy process. With weekly sessions, this approach alleviates most cases of extreme emotional disturbance within 8 to 12 weeks. Currently, all sessions at Paragon are scheduled via a HIPAA compliant secure online application. Although Dr. Choe believes in-person therapy sessions are best, online sessions are available as a convenient and effective alternative. Many clients find the same relief and improvement in their psychological well-being that they would after in-person sessions.
Depression Therapy
Depression is often a chronic condition. It requires ample attention and effort to improve. Our therapy approach focuses on easing the stress and seeing new perspectives when it comes to problems. The goal is to develop skills for handling symptoms and empower clients. If you struggle with avoidance, isolation, bottled-up negative feelings, or just a persistent lack of energy, don’t hesitate to get professional assistance. Read more
Child Therapy
Your child may be struggling psychologically if they; change their eating or sleeping habits, engage in destructive behaviors, experience extreme feelings of sadness or worry, show other behavior issues, isolate themselves from their peers, regress to a younger emotional state, have more about physical complaints about things like headaches or stomachaches, or talk about death often. Do not hesitate to connect your child with a psychotherapist who can give professional help if you are concerned. Read more
Psychotherapy
Therapy is an interactive process based on a relationship. We don’t see our clients as broken. And our clients shouldn’t expect individual sessions to result in instant fixes to their lives. Therapy is not about teaching clients or telling them what to do. The process aims to find ways to bring a change in a client’s life on their terms and based on their needs. Is therapy easy? No. It can even be challenging. But it is a worthwhile process that can even be enjoyable. Most often, the change is gradual as the neural pathways rewire over the course of multiple sessions.
